Frequently Asked Questions

  • Who Do You Work with?

I work with clients ages 18+ including undergraduate and graduate students, as well as young professionals.

  • What challenges do you help with?

I specialize in anxiety, depression, burnout, perfectionism, trauma, and academic/career stress.

  • Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes! All sessions are conducted via a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform for your convenience.

  • What happens during the free consultation?

This 15-minute phone call gives us a chance to discuss your needs, goals, and how I can support you. It’s also an opportunity for you to ask any questions, simply to ensure that we are a good fit (both scheduling wise and in my own clinical skills). To the same effect, YOU deserve to feel confident in choosing a therapist (comparison shopping encouraged!).

  • Do you accept insurance?

Align Counseling Services is an out-of-network provider. All services are fully private pay. There are small number of spots open for sliding scale fees, as well as the option to provide you with a superbill for reimbursement through your insurance provider.

  • Do you offer in-person therapy?

For the time being, all our services are virtual only.

  • Next steps to becoming a client?

Feel free to get in contact via our contact page, or give us a call to schedule your free 15-minute consultation.

  • What services are you unable to provide?

Align Counseling Services is unable to provide medication prescriptions, ADHD/Autism assessments, court-mandated counseling, and letters for ESA or disability.

  • How long are therapy sessions?

A standard session is 50 minutes long. The intake session is longer, at 65 minutes, to ensure thorough history taking and goal-setting.

  • How do you protect my privacy?

Per Florida ethical guidelines for therapists, your information is kept confidential with a few exceptions. Theses include:

    - Court subpoena of records

    - Client is deemed an immediate harm to self or another

    - Therapist is made aware of child abuse, elder abuse, or abuse of person with disabilities (mandated reporting)

Client records are held for seven years following service termination and thereafter destroyed.

  • How often should I come to therapy?

This is entirely dependent on your preferences and needs! Some folks feel that bi-weekly (every two weeks) is sufficient, while others prefer once weekly, once monthly, as needed, etc. This is always up to you, and can change with your circumstances.
